Students will have the opportunity to visit a working South Georgia Plantation. Learn the history of cotton, timber, the Civil War and plantation life in the 1800′s. Also included on the tour is a visit to the Ocmulgee Indian Mounds. These are some of the largest Indian mounds in the state of Georgia! Come walk in the footsteps of early natives, explorers, and wealthy industrialists. Enjoy a ferry ride to the island where a park ranger will discuss the island’s history, the plants, wildlife and marshes. A nature walk around the island is also included for students to collect shells and sharks teeth along the beach.
Located along the Atlantic Coast with a beautiful natural harbor, St. Augustine is “America’s Oldest City”.
